Jugalbandi

Jugalbandi was born in Edinburgh Scotland in January 2008 when Gordon Irvine and Chris Kant met; Gordon is a former member of Seannachie, a traditional Celtic folk band of some repute and Chris, a veteran of Scotland's rock and improvisation music scenes. Gordon and Chris have been joined by Ross Anderson in 2010; Ross is a young and very talented percussionist and drummer who is already a veteran of the folk music scene (Coda, Sandy Brechin Band and more) but is able to turn his hand to any musical form that comes his way.

Jugalbandi play an uplifting and spirited acoustic blend of the Celtic, Blues and Jazz traditions with the rhythms and sounds of Africa, India and Latin America. Jugalbandi play a wide range of instruments and use alternative tunings to create new and unconventional arrangements and compositions using 6 and 12 string guitars, mandolin, octave mandolin, cittern, baglama, bouzouki and more.
