A veteran musician of the Edinburgh and East Lothian band scene, Martin has taken his years of electric guitar playing experience and developed with it a unique approach to fingerstyle based celtic/rock acoustic guitar where, technique-wise, anything he can manage to play goes. His material is original but rooted in influences such as Davey Graham, Jimmy Page, Bert Jansch and Gordon Giltrap - however he admits you're never too old to be influenced and currently admires many of the new contemporary acoustic guys such as Erik Mongraine, Jon Gomm and Andy McKee - as well as a few others whose style wouldn't normally be associated anywhere near acoustic music!
Having written, produced and played guitar and drums on the well received 'Young Gorgie Surf Team' electric project in 2009, Martin has since developed his production and engineering skills, resulting in the release of his first self recorded and produced solo CD 'Daydu' on the Bandcamp label in 2013. Although still a regular electric player with Rock and Blues band Bluesoul and occasional guest with indie covers band The Blackbeez, he now mostly concentrates on gigging his acoustic set wherever he can and may well be spotted in any East Coast venue with a mind to put on a player who is a just bit out of the ordinary.
