How many people who are fans of Scottish folk music haven't heard of the McCalmans? The answer is none. After ??? years they are still going strong as I witnessed recently at their gig in Aberfeldy Town Hall. The Macs, as most people know them, comprising of Ian McCalman, Nick Keir and Stephen Quigg performed with their usual professionalism that we have come to know and love. The audience were frequently in fits of laughter at the very dry humour of Ian McCalman. Still on the lighter side, they performed a few songs which take everyday serious topics and show a humourous side to them, on this occassion "Lets Recycle" and "Still Gonna Die" which went down a treat with the audience.
Unfortunately, The Macs will cease to be at the end of 2010. Nick and Stephen will be carrying on their successful solo careers and Ian is "supposedly" hanging up his guitar but that's still a long way off and they have many tours and gigs still to come. So if you know they're performing near you, don't miss the chance, get along and see them as you don't get much better entertainment. If you can't manage along, their new CD, 'Coming Home', is the next best thing. Keep up the good work guys.
